NYC TREND WATCH IN HOME FURNISHING

Hello Everyone!

I am sorry for not posting earlier, but thankfully we have been quite busy and are actually remodeling 3 homes for a bank in the city. I have been working quite close with a friend who is my interior designer and we got onto the topic of trends in today's homes compared to just last year. Last year was kitchens, kitchens, and more kitchens with the majority being IKEA. However, this year it seems that more people are intrested in flooring, not only flooring but the enviroment as well. You would be suprised at how creative these manufactuers are with using leather from belts and purses for leather flooring, cork, bamboo, and so many more green options available today. Anyway, back to the topic regarding trends, a trend in flooring today is the use of the same material throughout each level of your home. This more often means a hard surface..... such as wood, stone, or ceramic tile.... covers the floor in the primary gathering areas and, in some instances, the bedrooms. The beauty of this is that hard surface floors are very easy to clean. The drawback is nobody in their right mind wants to sprawl out on cold tile or hardwood planks.

The solution?????? Top your hard surfaces with area rugs. Both practical and decrotive, rugs are available in an array of shapes and sizes. Choose large rugs to define conversation areas or even protect high traffic areas that are covered with wall to wall carpeting. Choose small, washable rugs to protect the floor in these high traffic areas, such as in front of the door, garage dor, or even in the mudroom.

Today's most sought after area rugs are as enticing to touch as they are to look at. As you shop look for thick, luxurious finishes or sculpted designs, or rugs made from natural materials, such as the sisal rug. Color schemes include soft, neutral shades, as well as the rich oranges, greens, grays, and blues that are popular in carpet today.

I love to take a rundown apartment and turn it into something unique and current watching it come together as a painter crosses his brush over a canvas. The feeling is just amazing. I am grateful that we are EZ Furniture Assembly & Interior Innovations because after several wonderful projects we have been reccomended to do what WE think is best for this or that property.
