NYC TREND WATCH IN HOME FURNISHING

Hello Everyone!

I am sorry for not posting earlier, but thankfully we have been quite busy and are actually remodeling 3 homes for a bank in the city. I have been working quite close with a friend who is my interior designer and we got onto the topic of trends in today's homes compared to just last year. Last year was kitchens, kitchens, and more kitchens with the majority being IKEA. However, this year it seems that more people are intrested in flooring, not only flooring but the enviroment as well. You would be suprised at how creative these manufactuers are with using leather from belts and purses for leather flooring, cork, bamboo, and so many more green options available today. Anyway, back to the topic regarding trends, a trend in flooring today is the use of the same material throughout each level of your home. This more often means a hard surface..... such as wood, stone, or ceramic tile.... covers the floor in the primary gathering areas and, in some instances, the bedrooms. The beauty of this is that hard surface floors are very easy to clean. The drawback is nobody in their right mind wants to sprawl out on cold tile or hardwood planks.

The solution?????? Top your hard surfaces with area rugs. Both practical and decrotive, rugs are available in an array of shapes and sizes. Choose large rugs to define conversation areas or even protect high traffic areas that are covered with wall to wall carpeting. Choose small, washable rugs to protect the floor in these high traffic areas, such as in front of the door, garage dor, or even in the mudroom.

Today's most sought after area rugs are as enticing to touch as they are to look at. As you shop look for thick, luxurious finishes or sculpted designs, or rugs made from natural materials, such as the sisal rug. Color schemes include soft, neutral shades, as well as the rich oranges, greens, grays, and blues that are popular in carpet today.

I love to take a rundown apartment and turn it into something unique and current watching it come together as a painter crosses his brush over a canvas. The feeling is just amazing. I am grateful that we are EZ Furniture Assembly & Interior Innovations because after several wonderful projects we have been reccomended to do what WE think is best for this or that property. EZ Asembly & NYC Professional Furniture Assembly Looking for Deserving Charity to Help!

Hello Again:

I am a strong beliver in Karma, and have decided to find a charity we believe in to provide either our profesional assembly or Handyman services. We have a team of expert technicians who can do everything from furniture assembly, painting, tiling, and much more. If you are a charity in need of our services, or just know one please email us at contactus@professionalfurnitureassembly.com. I would actually prefer a charity that helped children, disabled, or the homeless. In August we intend to make it the "Helping the Homeless" month and use a % of our gross income for that month to throw a feast for those in need. We hope we can get other companies to help us make it a feast to remember.

Great Websites, Tips, and Instructions for the DIYer IKEA Kitchen Installation

Hello Everyone!
This has always been an important topic and doing a kitchen renovation using IKEA cabinets, or any cabinets for that matter yourself is hard enough so I figured that sharing my years of expierence would be a plus. First of I want to share a Great website that is a must for anyone that is an Ikea shoper because it has everything about Ikea products from tips, forums, downloadable instructions, and step by step guides on how to asemble their products if you get stuck. The site is IKEA FANS and you can check it out by clicking here. What's even cooler is they are giving away $350.00 of IKEA goodies! The first thing you ned to do after you have purchased the cabinets you are going to assemble and install is clean out as much space as possible while using the boxes to protect the floor. Then start by asembling your wal cabinets because they will be the first ones to be installed. I suggest getting a bowl or tupperware to hold all the screws and dowels. Use the first one as a guide for the rest of them. The actual assembly of both the base and wall cabinets is simple and wil be easier once you get rolling. Do NOT put the doors on until you have hung the cabinets. The hard part is putting in the drawers and assembling them. It is very important to make sure you count the holes as shown in the poor picture directions because they are made of MDF (medium density fiberboard) and once you start puting in screws and taking them out it wil begin to chip and crumble before your eyes. After you assemble your wal cabinets you ned to hang them and get them out of the way to get the base cabinets done. Ikea cabinets hang on a rail so it is important that this is folowing your flor, not always level. Why? Because if you were to hang the suport rail perfectly level but your floor wasn't your cabinets would actually look unlevel and slanted. I sugest measuring from the floor up to the cieling in 5-6 seperate places along the length of your wall to see if it is level or not. If it's 96" on the right side but 94" on the left end you wil have to measure from the cieling and deduct from there and mark your line for the bracket. This way even if it is not level when you hang them they will appear level because you followed the floor. Make sure you screw the bracket into as many studs as possible for the most support, most studs are between 16"-18" apart. You will be able to level the base cabinets out by adjusting the legs. This is a job and if you never swung a hammer I would suggest hiring a professional because there is a strong chance you will damage the cabinets, hit a electrical wire or water pipe screwing in the suport bracket, nevermind it will take you at least six times longer than a pro. Ikea charges about $10 to instal each cabinet, where we charge between $25-$35 to assemble & $45-$60 to install. I have found that in the city most kitchen renovations cost the client about $800-$1100 to professionally install all the cabinetry, cut outs for pipes and the countertop. Painting and a nice tile backsplash wil run a few hundred more but really makes it beautiful. If you have any questions prior to doing the job or while doing it feel free to email or cal me @ 718-313-4770 and I wil help you the best I can. EZ Furniture Asembly Buys New Company!

Hello Everyone,
My name is Christopher Purnell, the owner of EZ Furniture Assembly & Interior Innovations, llc & NOW NYC Professional Furniture Assembly & Handyman Services. To be honest the last two years have been a rollacoaster ride to say the least. We were the city's #1 assembly service then decided to expand into N.J. and P.A. which was just not the right time to expand, but who knew the recession was coming? Plus trying to make the other areas thrive we neglegted the city that made us who we are, that is why I made a decision after great thought to close all other offices and concentrate on New York City. However, I took over a smal company in which we will now be operating under with a fresh start with more services like Handyman and interior construction such as tiling and entire kitchen and bathroom renovations. This Blog will be directly linked to our website www.professionalfurnitureasembly.com and mostly be filled with the Do's & Dont's with assembly for the DIYers aswell as IKEA news and readers questions and comments. I want readers to share their ideas, answers, and asembly and/or installation stories. My goal is to see what we need to do to become the City's premier asembly service by providing what our customers really want. I also plan to share our companies growth and ideas for coments. I was suprised to say the least at how many people are posting on "Craigslist" claiming to be professional furniture asemblers or kitchen cabinet installers. It is actually scary for the legitimate hardworking companies trying to make this a recognized service like a mechanic when I know these people are either liars, thieves, or just people who put together a cd rack and now consider themselves a pro. I know for myself my entire has ben spent in one type of home construction, improvement and for the last six assembling furniture for residential clients and commercial clients where me and my team assembled over 10,000 pieces of furniture, instaled over 100 IKEA kitchens with some requiring counter instalation and backspash tiling. We worked on Bank Street where we were required to increase our insurance from One Million to Five. There is still confusion over our new name that is why we left an EZ Assembly site up directing our past clients to our new website. Always remeber that true quality workmanship isn't expensive... it's priceless! With that I will close for now but wil be posting reguarly and welcome all questions, comments, and feedback.
